SLSA Parents' Association

The St Laurence School Association (SLSA) was set up to work alongside the school to help with fundraising and creating a community. The fundraising projects work alongside school departments to be able to purchase or secure equipment and assist with activities that otherwise may not be possible. The SLSA also helps us, as parents, to get to know one another, a privilege that was lost in COVID and becomes more difficult as we become parents of secondary school students.

A new committee was formed in 2023 and together with the support of parents, we are hoping to create a calendar of exciting events for students and parents. The focus for the next year will support well-being (mental, physical and financial) across the school community.

What did we do in 2023?

Our biggest success was the pop up shop in October, which we opened in Silver Street. Open over a period of 2 weeks, and with the help of 6 volunteers, the shop not only managed to raise over £1500 by selling great quality, second hand items ranging from £1 to £4, but also gave parents the opportunity to swap uniform for bigger sizes – at no cost. The initiative not only raised money but helped hundreds of families  and we hope to open the shop again next year.

During the year committee also ran smaller uniform sales at school, and ran the bar on the Friday performance of Bugsy Malone, and took over Trinity Hall with a ladies clothing sale.

The Christmas Tree sale is now on and a 5’, 6’ or 7’ high quality, no drop tree can be purchased through slsa@st-laurence.com

We hope to close the year having raised over £5,000.
